NUST Entry Test

NET or the Nust entry test is a standardized test conducted for admissions in the National University of Science and Technology. The test is conducted in three different series around the year and the selection of candidates starts in August with the classes starting in September. A candidate can appear in multiple tests in an academic year, the best score of that candidate is considered for admission. The test is conducted in three locations across Pakistan; Islamabad, Quetta and Karachi. The test conducted in Islamabad is computer based, while the test conducted in Karachi and Quetta are paper based. The NET is based on the course books of HEC. The candidates are allowed to make five preference choices at the time of registration and these can be changed after the merit list is announced.

NET Exam Pattern

The test contains a total 200 mcq based question and the time allotted for completion of the test is three hours. There is no negative marking for wrong answers in the test. The test pattern varies for the degree the candidate is interested in pursuing. For business and social science degrees, the NET contains three sections; English, Basic Math and Intelligence. The English and Math section make up a total 80% weightage and the Intelligence portion makes a 20% of the weightage. The weightage differs for engineering based NET as the engineering based test has the following sections; Math, English, Physics, chemistry and intelligence with math and physics making the combined weightage of 70%. For the computer based test, conducted in Islamabad, the result is released online twenty four hours after the completion of the test. 

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for FA/FSC candidates is they must have passed HSC 1 and for those who have completed their FSC/FA must have obtained 60% marks. A level candidate can apply on the basis of O level equivalence issues by the IBCC and must have a minimum 60% marks in the O level equivalence certificate.
