A candidate can get admission in LUMS on the basis of LUMS Common Admission Test or on the basis of their SAT score. This blog discusses the LCAT and how a candidate can get admission on the basis of LCAT. The entry test is a requirement for law school, business and social sciences schools. While those interested in science based degrees will have to take a scientific aptitude test along with the LCAT. The eligibility criteria for getting admission in science based degree at Lums is 70% marks in Fsc/FA, while for business degree it is 65% marks or 2Bs and 1C in A levels across three full credit subjects and no grade lower than an E.

LUMS Entry Test Pattern

The entry test is a paper based test that consists of seven sections. All sections are compulsory with twenty five minutes allotted per section. The first six sections of the paper are based on Math and English while the last section is based on paragraph writing. The time allotted for the completion of the test is three hours. For LCAT preparation, students can consult the books on SAT 1 because the test is based on SAT 1 paper with the mathematics section being slightly more difficult than that of SAT 1. For Mathematics, there are three sections and the time allotted for these sections is one section of twenty minutes and the other two sections of twenty five minutes. These are a combination of multiple choice questions and a grid-in questions. The English portion also contains three sections, two sections of 25 minutes and one section of 20 minutes. The English portion contains sentence completion and long and short paragraph related questions. The last section is based on essay writing where a prompt is given to the students and they must write their essay based on it. The time allotted for this section is twenty five minutes.

Eligibility Criteria

The admission is opened in November and the LCAT test is conducted in March with the result being announced in April-July. The applicants will have to pay Rs 1500 as fee for LCAT along with the Rs 4000 as the admission processing fees.
