ECAT 2022 Entry Test
The Engineering Colleges’ Admission test, is a computer-based test that is conducted in Punjab as a prerequisite for admission to engineering universities. The ECAT test is conducted by the University of Engineering and Technology once a year around the May/June period for admission to Engineering related degrees. This test is required for admission to UET Lahore and all other affiliated universities. The competitive nature of this test can be understood from the fact that there are 50,000 candidates every year and only 3500 positions available to these students. There is no age limit for being eligible for the ECAT. The candidate must have attained sixty percent marks in the Intermediate examination. The test is based on the Intermediate course and the use of calculators is prohibited.
ECAT Entry Test Pattern
The test consists of 100 MCQs, each correct answer awards the candidate 4 marks and there is a negative marking of -1 for each wrong answer. The total marks that can be attained in the test are 400. The test is time bound with a time limit of one hour and forty minutes. The MCQs are divided into four different subjects with each subject having a different weightage. The weightage of each subject is; 30 MCQs from Physics, 30 MCQs from Marth, 30 MCQs from Chemistry, and 10 MCQs from English. The computer portion of this test is substituted by computer science or stats if the candidate has opted for a general science degree or a degree in computer science. Candidates who are currently waiting for their results can also apply for admission through the exam and will get provisional admission on the basis of their O level/ Hssc part 1 marks and the confirmation of their result will be on the basis of the complete result provided by the candidate. The test scores are only eligible for that particular admission cycle and cannot be carried forward to the next admission cycle.

For preparations, applicants can refer to their Intermediate books to prepare for math, chemistry, and other science-related topics. The English portion tests the comprehension skills of the candidates with topics such as sentence completion, synonyms, antonyms, and answering the short questions after reading the passage.
